Jürgen Braungardt,
Ph.D, MFT. Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist. (MFT36477) I
have done psychotherapy and counseling for more than twenty years in a
variety of settings, first in Germany, then in the United States. I offer both long-term psychoanalytic treatment as well as more focused counseling for relationship problems, career transitions, and other life crises. I also work with families, children, and teens. I grew up in Germany. I earned academic degrees in psychology, philosophy, and theology, from the universities in Munich and Berkeley. I have lived in California since 1989, and have been practicing in the Bay Area since 1992. I also love to teach: In addition to my work as a therapist I am a professor of philosophy at the California State University of the East Bay. I am interested in political and social philosophy, philosophy of religion, and ethics. During my training, I studied many diverse methods, but the major reference points for my psychotherapeutic work are the writings of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. The search for a therapist can be time-consuming and confusing. To make that process easier and faster, I invite you to call me and tell me your concerns. If you wish to proceed, you can then schedule your first session with me free of charge. If we don’t seem like a good match, I will give you my impressions and point you toward other resources or therapists. This website will give you an overview of my work and my services, as well as some biographical information about me. I am very committed to my work and my clients, and I have witnessed many times how powerful and life-changing psychotherapy can be. . | |
